Semarang — Diponegoro University (Undip) continues to demonstrate its commitment to environmental conservation through a large tree planting program on campus. This activity took place in August 2025, with plantings along the main road and around the Undip Rectorate Building.
Nineteen trees with an average diameter of 75 cm were planted as part of the campus’s greening and environmental improvement efforts. These large trees not only provide ecological benefits, such as improved air quality and microclimate control, but also beautify the campus landscape, making it more beautiful and comfortable for both students and visitors.
The Undip Chancellor stated that this activity is a concrete manifestation of the university’s concern for environmental sustainability while also supporting the UI GreenMetric program , which assesses the commitment of universities worldwide to sustainability and environmental management.
“Undip is committed to continuing tree planting and environmental care in a sustainable manner, so that our campus truly becomes a green campus that is healthy, beautiful, and environmentally friendly,” he said.
Tree planting will continue in stages at various strategic locations on campus. This initiative is expected to support Undip’s vision of becoming a superior, sustainable, and environmentally conscious university.
